As I was reading the articles on archival aesthetics, I kept thinking about DJing especially when “sample” is mentioned in Foster’s An Archival Impulse. DJs go to record stores and go through stacks of vinyls to find rare vinyls. DJs sample music of the past to create something new. They are also referred as music curators. An online music streaming service, 22tracks.com streams music curated by DJs from four cities to help visitors discover music. In my presentation and paper, I will connect art of archiving and DJing.
Great! Looking forward to this!
